Rear Admiral Junior Grade (R Adm (JG)) Tebogo Michael Motsene is a South African naval combat officer known for his role in the acquisition of new multi-mission inshore patrol vessels for the South African Navy (SAN). He has been recognized for his contributions to the South African Navy and was promoted to Rear Admiral Junior Grade appointed as Director Naval Acquisition, showcasing his advancement through the naval ranks. R Adm (JG) Motsene is a member of the Naval Command Council, Defense Research and Development Board, Maritime Technology Steering Committee and the Maritime Project Steering Committee.
He was the Project Officer for Project Biro, the programme that delivered the new vessels in the early 2020s. He served onboard various South African Navy vessels and was Commanding Officer of the offshore patrol vessel SAS GALESHEWE. Onboard the SAS DRAKENSBERG he served as the executive officer and Valour class frigates as the Navigation Officer, Anti Air Warfare Officer and ultimately as the executive officer SAS AMATOLA.
He achieved a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Management College of South Africa, Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Southern Business School, National Diploma in Maritime Studies from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology as well as a Diploma in Defense Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College.
