Industrialization Policy for Defence Industry
In this presentation, we will explore the evolution and current framework of Turkey’s defense industrialization policy, focusing on how it has developed to support increased local participation, technological advancement, and strategic collaboration. The discussion will cover key policy tools, support mechanisms, and long-term goals aimed at building a more self-reliant and competitive defense sector, while also emphasizing innovation, efficiency, and cooperation with both domestic and international partners.
Murat ÇİZGEL was born in 1977 in Kütahya. He completed his entire education in Kütahya until he graduated from Kütahya Ali Güral Anatolian High School in 1995. After graduating from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Selçuk University in 1999, he started his first career in December 2000 at the Undersecretariat of Defense Industry as it was then called. Until the end of 2011, he worked in different departments under the Presidency of Defense Industries as Contracted Specialist, Defence Industry Assistant Associate and Defense Industry Associate, respectively. In 2012, he was appointed as Patrol Ships Group Manager within the Department of Naval Platforms. In 2016, he continued his duty as Logistics Planning and Coordination Group Manager to carry out performance-based logistics support projects. In the same year, he was appointed as the Sensors Group Manager at the R&D and Technology Management Department. He was appointed as the Head of Industrialization Department in 2018 and still continues his duty as the Head of Industrialization Department in the Presidency of Defense Industries. Murat ÇİZGEL is married and has one child.
