Defence Industrial policy and Security of Supply practice in Latvia
This presentation provides an insight into the Latvian Defence Industrial policy and ecosystem including newly adopted Defence Industry and Innovation Support Strategy. It examines the initiatives by the Ministry of Defence to ramp-up a newly established defence industry on the NATO`s Eastern flank country, including the application of the Security of Supply practice in Latvia and it`s role in developing defence industry.

Biography

Daiga Ozola currently is the Head of the Section for Industrial Resilience and Security of Supply at the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Latvia. Prior to this role she has led Defence Industry and Innovations Section and after the reorganization of the Defence Industry and Innovations department has taken the role of leading newly established Industrial Resilience and Security of Supply section at the end of 2024. She is involved with the current Security of Supply projects regarding Industrial Participation of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Latvia, such as Medium and Short-Range Air Defence systems, Infantry Fighting vehicles as well as other upcoming Security of Supply projects that are yet to be contracted. Daiga has a background in business journalism and a private sector and since 2017 has been working with the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Latvia in different roles, starting in Military Public Affairs.
